Function

1. The combination of isotretinoin and tetracycline antibiotics can cause false "brain tumors" and cause benign brain pressure to rise. The clinical manifestations are high blood pressure with headache, dizziness and visual disturbance.

2. Isotretinoin and vitamin A used at the same time can produce symptoms similar to those when vitamin A is overdose.

3. The simultaneous application of isotretinoin and carbamazepine can lead to a decrease in the blood concentration of carbamazepine. Simultaneous use with warfarin can enhance the therapeutic effect of warfarin and methotrexate ( MTX) can be used at the same time, which can increase the damage to the liver due to the increase of the blood concentration of MTX.

Application

1. Pharmacology: The mechanism of action of this drug is not yet fully understood. When used in the treatment of acne, it can reduce sebaceous gland tissue, inhibit sebaceous gland activity, reduce sebum secretion, reduce epithelial cell keratinization and keratin embolism in the sebaceous gland of hair follicle, and inhibit the growth and reproduction of Propionibacterium acnes. Recent studies have also shown that the drug can regulate inflammatory and immune mediators related to the pathogenesis of acne and selectively bind to the retinoic acid nuclear receptor to play a therapeutic role.

2. Toxicology: Tests have shown serious teratogenic effects.
